A Summer Writing Playlist
Also inside: my writing accountability group begins tonight. Here's how to join us.
I begin every new season by making a writing playlist. I thought I’d share my Writing the Summer Away playlist with you today.
The first song on the playlist is titled “Cicadas,” and that could not be more intentional. As a lifelong Floridian, heat is the first sign of summer, humidity is the second, and cicadas are the third.
This year’s brood feels particularly strong. When I was at Bread Loaf last week, I could hear my insect buddies buzzing whenever Alex called. I kept asking, “Wait, did you step outside? They’re so loud.” His answer was always no.

SUMMER WRITING NIGHTS FAQs
Do I have to come to every session? Nope! Join us as little or as often as you’d like.
Do I have to arrive to the sessions on time? You can drop in or leave anytime. You’ll be automatically muted when you join.
Do I have to have my camera on? No one is required to have their camera or mic on at any point during Writing Nights.
Will I fit in if I’m not a “writer?” Absolutely. If you’ve always wanted to write, this is a great place to get started.
Are you going to make me feel guilty if I don't get any writing done? Definitely not.
If I can’t make it to a session, will a recording be provided later on? No recordings will be provided for this offering.
For me, summer is the sound of all the industrial lawn mowers keeping my neighborhood's lawns under control (including mine, so I'm not knocking them 🙂). See you at Writing Nights!
See you tonight!
