LAST SUMMER’S DIARIES

Today, I am thrilled to announce that I’m releasing a zine called 100 Swims: Last Summer’s Diaries. The zine arrives on August 31. Preorders available now.

WHAT IS A ZINE? A zine is a small-batch print publication. Think something between a magazine (where the word “zine” comes from!) and a booklet.

If you’ve been reading this newsletter for a while, you may recall that I tried to go swimming 100 times last year. I made a chart to track my swims.

PREORDER THE ZINE

I did not end up swimming 100 times, but I did swim 78 times, and I would not have gone swimming 78 times if I had not set out to swim 100 times.

Around the same time, I set a goal to journal every day. I recently revisited those diary entries from last summer and thought: I want these to live somewhere.

I rounded up at least one sentence from each day of last summer’s journaling. This zine is the result. In addition to being a zine about swimming, it’s also about the writing process, chronicling my attempt to finish a novel revision.

NEXT BOOK CLUB PICK

Writing Wild: Forming a Creative Partnership with Nature · I started keeping a nature journal this year and love being in the practice of writing about what I see, collecting words about the landscape the way one might collect leaves or shells. I hope this book by Tina Welling might encourage us all to write more about the worlds around us. Meets Wednesday, October 30, 8-9:30 PM EST on Zoom.
