I loved Really Good, Actually by Monica Heisey and Sorry I’m Late, I Didn’t Want to Come by Jessica Pan! I’ve only really embraced audio books this year and it’s completely altered my reading game.

Marin Ireland?! SOLD! Such valuable recommendations, thank you so much for sharing! I really enjoyed Rick Rubin's book, very good in small meditative doses. It put me into a trance!

I did the same with Rick Rubin’s audiobook: it was like having a scrumptious morsel of inspiration every day for weeks. Happy reading + listening, Kara! 💛

Oh hello!!!! Delighted to be called out here for my most acceptable coping mechanism! My journey started when I was commuting to work for the first time in 2015… I was literally using library CDs and then not getting out of my parked car for … long periods of time… to finish irresistible books. I listened to all the hunger games books (enjoyed them!! The library didn’t have a lot of choices on CD!) i am so pumped for this next Kiley Reid book - the last one was so good on audio too. Can I also recommend kitchens of the great Midwest- read (in part) by the great Amy Ryan? That was an early favorite. I’m listening to Quietly Hostile read by Samantha irby right now - laughing a lot (and also cringing a lot).

You just gave me the most decadent sense memory, thinking about those clunky plastic CD cases that housed library audiobooks. I miss them! Kitchens of the Great Midwest has been on my list for so long, so I think it's time: I listened to and LOVED the same author's book that came out last year. And that Samantha Irby book made me laugh so hard I choked on my spit. The Dave Matthews essay really got me.

Psyched to get audiobook recommendations. I adore the audio version of Anne Lamott's Bird by Bird narrated by Susan Bennett. The Lion Tracker's Guide to Life by Boyd Varty. Gene Wilder's Kiss Me Like a Stranger.

The Bird by Bird audiobook was a wonderful companion for me during 2020! It kept me company on so many walks. I haven't heard of the other two books, so I'm definitely going to check those out: thanks for the recs!
